I'm a Model?

So not too long ago I was scouted at a local fashion event to join a modelling agency within my city. I was completely thrown off because I am certainly not model material. I put my hesitation aside, and decided to meet with the agency. They described to be what projects I would most likely be working on, and filled me up with so much confidence about my personal appearance (something, I am sure lot of women doubt, myself included). I was so excited to be offered to join a company that worships beauty of some many different races, sizes, personalities. And loan behold this week I signed my contract....so I guess that means I am a model? I had my first shoot as a contracted model, and I have to say I am pretty impressed with the images. Who knew I could do such a thing? Certainly not me.

The last two are without a doubt my favourite shots. I am so excited to be add "model" to my resume and be involved in many new exciting projects! So my question is, are any of you models? Whats your advice for a noob like me? Tyra Banks, if you are reading this please be nice.

Lord Huron's Strange Trails

IMAGE: THE AUSTIN CHRONICLE

For my first post I would like to discuss a band that is the source of my inspiration and creativity as of current...Lord Huron. Lord Huron is an American band, based out of Los Angeles, California. Members include Ben Schneider, founder of the band, as well as, Mark Barry, Miguel Briseno, and Tom Renaud.

Lord Huron can be categorized as a Indie Folk band, drawing inspiration from Schneider's childhood around Lake Huron and the outdoor lifestyle. The influence of this area can be heard within the folk sound the band has embraced.

Strange Trails is my current music obsession, with soulful lyrics, mesmerizing melodies and an overall divine style. The album debuted April of this year (2015), and is the bands second album. The entire album has a very relaxed feel to it, influenced by the bands home on the west coast. With some warm and comfortable months ahead of us, this album will fit in with the lifestyle that many of us embrace during the summer.

Some of my favorite tracks include "The Night We Met," "Cursed", "Love Like Ghosts" and "Fool for Love".  "The Night We Met" is voted to be my top track on the album with beautiful lyrics, and an intense drum beat that captivates listeners at around the half way point of the song. This song has been on repeat for weeks now, and I have yet to tire of it.

Overall this album is one of the best I have heard in months, as it is inspiring and easy to listen to. If you have yet to purchase Strange Trails, I highly encourage it. The band is also touring North America and Europe this summer at various music festivals, so if you're lucky enough to catch them you're in for a treat.
